Following the death of Fred Fitzwater in 2024, a decision was taken to hold an annual Print Competition in memory of Fred, who was in his nineties and often won our monthly print competitions.
Apart from cropping Fred didn't edit his images, Everything was achieved 'in camera'. A measure of what a great photographer he was.
The images in the gallery (below left) scored 9's or 10's in the competition held on 7th July 2025 There were two categories- intermediate and advanced.
The judge was Eddie Hyde FRPS.
FRED FITZWATER PRINT TROPHY COMPETITION RESULTS
Thanks to everyone who took part in last night's Fred Fitzwater print trophy competition.
30 members and 60 prints in total. The judge Eddie Hyde FRPS did a fantastic job and was really impressed with the overall quality and sheer variety of genres for such a small club.
Congratulations to:
James for winning the Intermediate trophy.
With a score of 19 points out of 20. Equal with Linda who also scored 19. But one of James's prints got a 10 so he was awarded the trophy.
Intermediate Best Print was Raphael 's "District Line at Westminster Tube Station".
Intermediate Highly commended Print was Raj's "Unexpected Customers".
The Advanced trophy winner was Pradheep
With 20 out of 20. He was also given the Best Print award for his "Angry Author" print.
The Advanced Highly commended Print was given to Dave for his 'Walking on the Lower Ground" print.
Well done everyone, especially our new club members and the intermediate class, which I think Eddie was particularly impressed with.
A special mention also for Satish who invented a new genre of photography with his very creative image "Open Sesame"
Eddie said he had never seen anything like it and had to score it a 10.
